A site about country roads collects about as much personal data as a paper map does. The full inventory is below, and it is short.
The postcard form
Writing to us hands over three things: the name you sign, the address you want the reply at, and the words of the postcard. That's all we ask for, ever, anywhere on the site.
Traffic, counted in the aggregate
An audience-measurement tool may be running that counts page reads and the kinds of device they come from. It reports totals. It does not name people, and we have no interest in un-anonymising anyone who reads about picnics.
What the data does
Replies get written; popular route notes tell us what to write next; the site stays secure. It goes no further — no selling and no sharing for marketing on our side. The advertising below is Google's, and it is described rather than glossed over.
What gets logged along the way
The server that hands out these pages keeps its own note of every request: the IP address it came from, the browser named in it, which page was asked for and when. Those logs exist for security and for working out what broke, the hosting company controls how long they are kept, and they are not used to identify readers.
Cookies
The measurement tool sets some when it's on, and the advertising described next sets more. Your browser can refuse or clear them and every page here works identically.
Ads along the route
This site shows advertising served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to decide which ad to show and to measure it, and in some regions that decision can be based on sites you visited before.
Two controls sit with you: Google's ad settings turn personalised advertising off, and your browser can block cookies for this domain. The route notes work the same with either turned off.
The two providers
FormSubmit carries the postcards; the measurement provider, when active, counts the traffic. Each operates under its own privacy policy and receives only what its job requires.
Keeping and deleting
Postcards are kept until answered and for up to a year afterwards, in case the conversation continues. Ask us at contato@urbanriedeguide.com to show, fix or delete what we hold about you and we will; the precise rights depend on where you live.
New editions
If the site or the law changes, this page gets a new edition; the date at the top says which one you're reading.
